Tortillis

Named after the flat topped, umbrella thorn tree, the acacia Tortilis and is situated in one of Amboseli's areas of acacia tortilis woodland with majestic backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world's highest free standing snow capped mountain. Game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the park and within a private 30.000 acre game concession. The tents are large and spacious with king or twin beds. Tortilis camp is a scenic tented camp situated on a hill with unrivalled views of Mt. Kilimanjaro from Amboseli National park. The double or twin beds at Tortilis are very comfortable. From the dressing area a door leads into the ensuite bathroom with a wondreful high pressure shower, hot spring fed water an da flush toilet. At Tortilis camp all you can do is relax. Each of the spacious tents is under thatch and has a large stone veranda with day beds and wicker furniture. The rooms are decorated with African rugs and ethnic lamps. Tortilis camp now boasts a resident masseuse and separate massage room for aromatherapy, body, face and head massages. The camp has a bar and open dining area both with excellent view of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

  Each tentis roofed with makuti (thatched) and is raised up on a wooden deck and and overhanging a large verandah, ideal for an early afternoon siesta.
